Hello, and happy Thursday! Well, this is my last post as guest designer for Out of a Hat Creations, and I just want to say thanks for having me. It’s always a pleasure hanging out in cyberspace with the ladies! This week’s challenge is to create something inspired by a song with a flower in the title. I chose Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose” for my inspiration.
One of the main lines in the song is “I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey”. From that, I was inspired to create a grey, distressed background, and add the roses as the kiss of colour to brighten things up.
The silver frame was first dry embossed using a Cuttlebug folder, then covered with glitter glue. That was a lot of glitter glue, lol! I had to let it dry overnight. For the sentiment, I cut a rectangle of cardstock, stamped it with the music background and added the sentiment. The roses were cut with my Cricut, and the edges sponged with red ink. I always love the look of paper roses. They are so beautiful, and really add elegance to anything.
I hope you have time to visit Janet, Sandra and Chrissie to see what they’ve been up to. And please do join in the fun. We love to see your makes. Have a lovely day, and happy crafting!
Good day! I am continuing my guest design spot today over at the Out of a Hat Challenge Blog with this CAS card. The theme is transport – old or new. I went with a good old-fashioned bicycle. This one looks to be circa 1950’s, complete with white wall tires!
The stamp is from the Close To My Heart Bright Sunshiny Day set. The sentiment is from another retired set and finishes on the inside with “enjoy the ride”. I coloured the bicycle in with a green sparkle gel pen to match the cardstock, and added the ribbon and silver brad at the top. Very simple but I like the results.

Hello crafty peeps! I’m very excited to be guest designer at Out of a Hat Creations for the month of June! Thank you ladies for asking me. As you know, I’ve been playing along with their challenges fairly regularly over the last year, and in doing so, I’ve really been able to stretch my creative muscles. What more could a crafter ask for?
So are you ready to check out this week’s theme? Tickets please!
The ticket shapes were cut out using my Cricut machine and stamped with some ticket stamps from my stash. You can see the middle ticket has today’s date on it! I am celebrating my guest design spot with the Hatters 🙂
After creating a bow with a piece of hemp twine, I used a cute little heart mini clothespin to hold it all together, then popped it up over a background of different shapes and strips of patterned paper.
Please take a minute or two to pop over and see what Chrissie, Janet and Sandra have made. And feel free to play along. We’d love to see what you come up with. Have a lovely day everyone!
Well hello there! It’s seems like forever since I posted last. My hubby had back surgery two weeks ago and ever since then it’s been like a circus around here. With all the balls in the air I had to drop a few and one of them was crafting 😦 The good news is we are getting back on track and my husband is recovering nicely. Slowly but nicely!
Speaking of the circus, the Out of a Hat Challenge this week is… you guessed it… the circus! I made a birthday card for the challenge but maybe I should have just taken a picture of my house, lol! Anyway, without further ado…
I don’t really own any type of circus stamps, but I do own this cute animal stamp set, which works with the circus theme. I also thought the flags had a bit of a circusy feel to them, so I used them to stamp the background. The animals were stamped, coloured and cut out and then perched on top of a homemade circus stand. I couldn’t fit the whole happy birthday sentiment on the stand so I decided to make a sign for the monkey’s hand with the happy part of the sentiment on it.
I also made a card for last week’s OOAH altered paper clip/clothes pin challenge but didn’t have time to post. So here it is a week late…
I thought it would be fun to put the altered paper clips on a card so the recipient can use them. This would be great for a teacher. The bottom portion of the card uses a burlap background stamp, which I inked up with four different ink colours. I then stamped the sentiment across the bottom in black ink.
That’s all today. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out. I hope to be back soon with more creations. Until then happy crafting!!
Hi there folks. Today I just managed to finish my altered bottle project for the Out of a Hat Challenge this week. Wasn’t sure I was going to get it done because I was a bit under the weather last week, and spent this week trying to catch up on other things. But here you have it…I was poking around the storage area in the basement looking for an interesting subject to work on, but all I could come up with was an old mason jar! So I ended up covering it with linen embroidery fabric. I thought it would be fun to try stamping directly onto the fabric. It worked well with darker colours. The focal image is from a Mother’s Day group of images I bought a while ago from The Vintage Workshop. If you love all things vintage, check out the store. They have some really great digis. The stamps are from CTMH’s La Belle Vie Collection and the paper flowers are from a bag of dollar store flowers I’ve had forever! To top it off, I added a gauzy ribbon, some flowers and a few other bobbles from my stash. C’est tout as they say en francais!
Be sure to stop by tomorrow for another My Time Made Easy Pretty Palette Challenge. Until then, have a lovely day!
