Hello everyone! Back in November I started seeing people all over the place wearing these beautiful swirly, knitted scarves and thought to myself “I need to find out how to make one”! I am NOT a knitter. I love handmade sweaters, scarves and hats, etc, but have always been busy doing other things to ever concern myself with knitting. Plus I’ve always been slightly intimidated by the whole process. Well, believe it or not, these scarves have peaked my interest, and I got busy learning how to knit (kind of, lol). There really isn’t that much real knitting involved but if you’re a beginner like me, these scarves are the perfect way to start.
The beauty of these scarves is they are very forgiving. You don’t have to worry about tension when knitting them, and they only take about 3 hours to complete. The yarn also comes in different styles and colours, so there is lots to choose from. Here is a picture of one of the balls of Red Heart Sashay yarn. As you can see, it comes already woven, so all you have to do is stitch it together in rows to form a long chain. You can see what the scarf looks like on a person by the model in the picture – gorgeous!
I have now made 7 of these! Why so many, you ask? Well, I have two kids in school, who each have two teachers. I knit each one of them a scarf and gave it to them with a box of home baked goodies for Christmas. I also knit one for myself, my mother-in-law and my daughter. I made this mini below for one of my daughter’s stuffed animals.

Doo-di-doo-dooo…So weird! I was just admiring a scarf like this on someone’s neck at work today, and they started telling me all about how what a great starting-knitter project this is!

Hi Caroline. You can get the yarn at Michaels, Walmart and Zellers. Give it a whirl. You are crafty so you probably won’t have any problems making one. I literally watched the video and then tried it – no problem – and I have no knitting experience. Have a lovely Christmas!
Great job Tracy, I wondered were you had been, now I know. Congtatulations on learning how to knit the scarves you liked so well. That is great. Now maybe you can go on from there. I cant seem to get the hang of it yet, but maybe I will try again sometime. They are beautiful. Have a great Christmas!
